Five Things to Do to Update Your Kitchen

If you are planning to sell your home at some point, you should consider kitchen remodeling. A study published by Consumer Report showed that first-time home buyers rated an attractive kitchen as the most important consideration for them when choosing a home. However, you do not have to be selling your home to spruce it up. Here are five things you can do to transform your kitchen into an inspiring space.

1. Work on the cabinets

Cabinets are some of the most prominent elements of your kitchen. Aging cabinets with rusted door handles are not the ideal picture of a modern kitchen. No matter the effort you might put in other areas of your home, you will not be able to shake off the image of a dull living space. You may be surprised at how much difference it can make to replace missing knobs. But that alone will not cut it. Replace the cabinet doors and add a fresh coat of paint. You can achieve even greater results if you have your cabinets replaced with more stylish ones. Today, there are lots of exciting designs to choose from.

2. Do a paint job

You should never underestimate the magic of color. A fresh coat of paint on your kitchen walls could bring your cooking area back to life. You can choose different colors to produce different effects to suit your taste. You may settle for traditional colors such as white and yellow or try more versatile colors such as Pale Sage green and dark egg blue. If you are more adventurous, you could achieve a stylish look by contrasting white and black. Paint the base of your kitchen black and have your cabinets all white.

3. Update the flooring

Damaged tiles are unsightly and can be difficult to clean. Damaged or peeling wood is no better. Whatever your choice of flooring, it must be in chic condition. Stained vinyl can be covered in plywood sheets or porcelain tiles. Wooden floors are even easier to handle; if not badly worn-out all you need to do is to repaint them. Blue and pale gray are a classic choice of color and white is as immaculate as always. To spruce them up, even more, you could have a pattern or shapes stenciled on them. If you have a damaged tiled floor, you will need to have the bad tiles removed first so as to replace them. Tile removal can be a health hazard because dust and other materials are thrown into the air. However, innovative technology has brought about better methods for tile removal which pose no health risks. It is now possible to access dustless tile removal in Phoenix.

4. Upgrade the countertops

You cannot discuss kitchen remodeling without mentioning the countertops. Damaged or faded surfaces can be a turnoff and can be a challenge in maintaining hygiene. That notwithstanding, cracked surfaces can also allow water to sip through encouraging mold to grow. This can present a perfect thriving ground for harmful microorganisms. Aged laminate can be painted to improve its appearance; however, no amount of paint can take away its cheap look. If your budget allows, replace laminate with natural stone products such as granite and quartz. Scratched aluminum surfaces can be painted or replaced altogether.

5. Upgrade the lighting

Sometimes lighting can make all the difference. Replacing old incandescent light bulbs with modern and stylish lamps will not add a taste of stylishness but also save you on power costs. Chandeliers and wall brackets might be just perfect for your kitchen.
